In MS, the brain ages faster than in people without MS
A small but fascinating study from September 2026 reports that:
daily walking
for one year
reduced brain again by 40% than expected!
The researchers did an MRI at the start of the study
asked the people with MS to walk every day for a year
then did a second MRI at the end of the year
In people without MS, we expect the brain to age by one year every year
In people with MS, the brain ages by about 1.24 years every year
In this study, after walking for a year, the brain aged by only 0.74 years!
This mean that not only did daily walking reduce brain aging by 40% in people with MS compared to people with MS without daily walking
But also reduced brain aging compared to people without MS!!!
