Dr. Conor Kerley - Phytaphix founder
Conor was then head hunted for a clinical and research position at a private medical centre in Washington DC. At this time, Conor was awarded a fully funded trip to present this award winning research at the High Blood Pressure Research Council of Australia in Melbourne. He decided that this was an opportunity of a lifetime, left his position in Washington DC and headed to Melbourne. At this conference, Conor met many esteemed researchers and clinicians and was invited to delivered keynote lecture at medical centres and university throughout Melbourne, Hobart and Sydney. It was during this 6 weeks of travel alone that Conor had a thought…why not use his research and expertise to formulate nutrition products to help millions of people of people around the world.
There were two major problems, Conor had no money and even worse: no idea where to start. While in Sydney, Conor was interviewed and accepted to lecture on the degree course he graduated from, so instead of returning to America from Australia, Conor decided he would return home to Dundalk, Co Louth, Ireland. The idea of lecturing was to earn a little money while enrolling in business courses. In fact, Conor arrived back to Ireland on a Saturday in January and commenced a ‘start your own business’ course with Louth Local Enterprise Office on that Monday!
While starting a new job as a lecturer, Conor also decided to buy his first property, take business courses including Inner City Enterprise and New Frontiers, an Enterprise Ireland Accelerator. Conor decided to leave his lecturing role on November 30th 2018 and Phytaphix was born. We spent 2019 navigating the complex regulatory and ethical pathways with a plan to launch clinical research into our blood sugar product…then COVID-19 hit. Since then we’ve had to majorly change plans. We’ve worked tirelessly to formulate our novel, immune support formula: Immune Phix.
Conor designed, conducted, analysed and published multiple human intervention studies leading to 26 publication in peer reviewed medical and scientific journals. For this research, Conor received multiple national international awards, including:
2015: Winner of Brian Maurer Young Investigator Award at Irish Cardiac Society Conference
2016: Winner of British Hypertension Society Young Investigator Award
2017: Winner of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetics Institute Research Dietitian of the Year
